I am a 16 year old high school junior, and while many may see this as an "angsty teen" ranting about how school sucks, it isn't. This is a cry for help. In our public school system, too many teachers are protected by unions and tenure to be fired, allowing many incompetent teachers to keep their jobs. I myself would like to be a high school teacher, in hopes that I can at least make a difference one class at a time. As a teacher, I would not unionize, and I personally hope that by that time I won't need to. [From "teachersunionsexposed.com"] 47% of unionized teachers responded yes when asked, “Do you think tenure and teacher organizations make it too difficult to weed out mediocre and incompetent teachers?” I know teachers in my own school feel this way, as do I.
