In a letter sent to OSPI in Washington State Secretary Duncan states that he regrets that Washington States ESEA flexibility waiver cannot be extended. His reasons for this are that the state did not honor its commitments to teacher and principal evaluations.
Arne Duncan's letter says that, even though Washington "has benefitted" from the waivers from this law, he cannot continue to support it. Please reverse this decision. The children of the state of Washington deserve to be benefitted and not help hostage to adult issues. The waivers in question have nothing to do with teacher and principal evaluations. This action will hurt children. Mr. Duncan's callous attitude about those children for political purposes is unacceptable for the Secretary of Education.
