The National Endowment for the Arts is an American institution. It plays a unique and vital part in funding the arts in our country. The consistent shrinking of this valuable national asset since the 1980's and particularly the defunding from the mid 1990's represent a disservice to our national culture. By signing this petition you aren't just supporting the arts- you are supporting this great program's ability to make bold and risky investments towards growing our arts community.
In order to show our support for the National Endowment for the Arts we call for the reversal of 1990's defunding and the restoration of the NEA to a budget of at least 0.03% of annual discretionary spending.
