Leonard Matlovich was dishonorably discharged in 1975 because he was gay.
On his tombstone, it reads "When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one."
While his discharge was pre-Don't Ask Don't Tell, after DADT was passed until it's repeal according to Wikipedia, at least 13,650 men and women were expelled as well.
We need to acknowledge that Sgt. Matlovich and others who were gay or lesbian and were expelled solely on the basis of their sexuality served their country with honor, and that it was an injustice that they were expelled from the armed forces simply because they loved those of the same sex.
We the undersigned request that your administration restore the honor that was taken away.
