The Librarian of Congress recently overturned a long standing precedent of their own. The Librarian ruled on copyright law (which apparently they have a power to do this) that made it so that phones can no longer be "jail broken"/disconnected from their sim cards and users no longer allowed to use devices they own outright however they want. It does not violate any of Apples patents and the devices no longer under contract belong to THE USER, NOT the cell companies or the patent holder. It is Fair Use to jailbreak your own phone and no patent holder can tell you what to do with your stuff once it belongs solely to you, for your own use.
