SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) started with a great direction, to stop online theft of copy written material such as illegal downloading of Movies, Games, Songs and so forth.
However, deeply embedded into SOPA is actually giving the Government the right to delve into your private surfing habits, where you visit, and possible what you send (emails, messages, passwords to name a few) over the World Wide Web which is known as "Deep-packet inspection".
Another concern in this bill is DNS (Domain Name Services) which is basically when you type in a website into your browser, your ISP sends you to that page. Under this law the Government can tell your ISP NOT TO ALLOW you to a website.
On Jan 14th, 2012 Obama rejected this SAME petition. Speak out against censorship obfuscated censorship!
