This is a petition to revert the use of the Sailor's Creed in the United States Navy to its Original Version.
The Original Sailor's Creed, written in 1986, positively emphasized what it means to be a Sailor in the U.S. Navy. Completely encompassing the core values, Honor, Courage, and Commitment as well as the pride in service, country, and to fellow shipmates.
The Current Version of the Sailor's Creed, revised in 1997, removed the impact of the original creed, and replaced it with a perfunctory, subservient, almost corporate tone. Rather than celebrating one's choice to serve the United States of America in the Navy, it now comes across as an apathetic agreement to Terms & Conditions.
Please lend your voice to bringing the genuine Pride of a Sailor back to the United States Navy.
