The 2nd Amendment reads as follows:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
At the outset of the Amendment, it clearly states that its purpose is to establish and maintain an armed militia. During and after the Revolutionary War, militia was our primary military force, and was necessary to win the war and secure the nation in the years afterward.
The Amendment was never intended to extend to every man and woman in the country to possess firearms. We ask that the Supreme Court review the 2nd Amendment and enforce the true intent of the text of that Amendment, to limit the right to bear arms to trained members of the military and law enforcement for homeland security purposes.
