review the amount of community service hours and extra curricular activities that are put on college applications.

Created by J.R. on May 28, 2014

As students are filling out their college applications they want to make it look like they were involved in their school as much as possible. The common app has no way of verifying how truthful these students are being. Students could write down that they were involved in 5 different clubs and did 400 hours of community service and the college would take that into consideration when deciding on whether or not to accept that student into their college. This process is not efficient and should be changed. College counselors and other administrators who are reviewing the applications should be contacting the potential students peers and authority figures to confirm the students involvement.
