Review and Comment on the treatment of peaceful protestors by the police in the United States

Created by S.F. on September 25, 2011

Peaceful protestors should be treated with the same respect as they are giving by remaining peaceful. No one has a right to abuse another just because they are wearing a badge and carrying a gun. Protestors should not require a permit to protest publicly anywhere. The Constitution already permits us, "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I would specifically like to hear comments of the treatment of OccupyWallStreet protestors by the NYPD. Particular focus on officers macing people who were penned into an enclosed space, as well as assaulting protestors with batons and handcuffing people for demonstrating their First Amendment rights.
