Review and halt Michigan's controversial "Rape Insurance" law, which prevents coverage of abortions for victims of rape.

Created by J.L. on March 12, 2014

After the passing of a recent law, Michigan residents who buy health coverage in the private marketplace will not have access to abortion coverage, even if a pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.

Private insurers can offer special riders to cover abortion in the case of a potential rape. However, no insurers are willing to offer these riders in Michigan, making abortion coverage for rape and incest victims impossible.

This law and the lack of these riders leave, again, the victim to pick up the tab. The law abandons the most vulnerable women in a community and tells them that, as victims, they must plan to be raped.

Please, Mr. President, change this bill to protect victims of rape and incest from being forced to pay to abort the child of their attackers.
