We the People ask that the Administration review and remove the more than 350 different laws allowing the use of an 'Administrative Subpoena'. This type of subpoena is a direct and intolerable breach of the Fourth Amendment. Without probable cause or a Judge's review federal officers can, as they wish, request near any type of record with just a signature. This includes records from banks, hospitals, libraries, bookstores, utilities, ISPs, telecommunication companies and more.
Several reports from the Inspector General of the Justice Department have shown that these laws (and the subpoenas gained from them) have been abused, yet at no time has anyone tried to prevent the use of these subpoenas or even put limits or oversight on them.
Sincerely,
The American Public
