Currently in accordance with Army Regulation AR 600–110 soldiers in the Army who are HIV positive are not allowed to deploy or serve overseas in non combat areas such as Germany. They are restricted to very few duty stations within the United States only simply because of their medical condition. According to the Navy Times, in August 2012 the Navy issued a major overhaul of its policy on assignments for sailors and marines with HIV, allowing them to be stationed or deployed overseas under certain conditions. It is now time for the Army to do the same and stop discriminating against soldiers who are HIV positive. HIV positive soldiers should be allowed to go on non combat assignments overseas.
