Article 112a of the UCMJ is a code in which all Military Personnel must abide by. This code clearly states that the use of Marijuana by Military Personnel, regardless of prescription, or legality in state, is STRICTLY prohibited and will call for disciplinary action. This automatically disqualifies those who use Marijuana with Medical Necessity from joining any branch of service. This is a clear injustice to soldiers who face medical problems and must endure pain and suffering in order to continue their line of service. While it should be made obvious that being on duty under the influence should continue to be illegal, outside use which is in no disturbance of ones work while in the armed forces and has not been committed illegally should not be prohibited.
