The test which is currently utilized by the Army is ineffective and inaccurate. This has been proven time and again by a wide number of studies. A recent test was conducted by the "Army Times" in which the test was proven to be inaccurate. A failed test, even if a soldier passes all other events of the fitness test, can lead to stagnation in their career or even forcible separation from the Army. While a standard is necessary and should be maintained, it should be accurate and able to be duplicated. The current test often depends as much on who administers it as who is being taped, which gives different results based on who gives the test. A more accurate test should be allowed at least if a soldier does not pass the current tape test. Currently there is no alternate test authorized.
