The F-22 Raptor is an integral part of US tactical aviation. Despite this, the present and previous administrations have canceled production on the grounds that it does not face viable adversaries. With the current status of both the People's Republic of China and Russian Federation stealth fighter programs, it is vital that a government study must be taken in reviewing the feasibility of restarting its production, and continuing to upgrade aircraft currently in service.
