Review current drug prohibition policies and light of new scientific evidence that marijuana has medical uses.

Created by H.A. on August 15, 2012

America's longest war has shown that prohibition does not work.
Richard Nixon coined the term "War On Drugs"
In 1972 he appointed a presidential commission known as the "Shafer Commission" It was titled "Marihuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding"
The report states that "neither the marihuana user nor the drug itself can be said to constitute a danger to public safety" The report further made recommendations to decriminalize marijuana to congress. However that recommendation has been ignored.
Drug policy is the problem and not drugs. The policies hurt individuals & families. It drains the economy & contributes to border instability with Mexico where thousands of people die.
New scientific findings state the usefulness of marijuana. It's time we look at the facts & make sensible drug policy.
