A first time offender or someone who has paid for their crime should not be forced to carry their punishment for life. Please give Americans a second chance. People make mistakes! My name is Jessie. I was a former Marine who served his country, got out and was a upstanding citizen. However, one night I made a mistake and I got a misdemeanor assault charge at a bar in Texas. I lost my job, apartment, family and was forced into homelessness. I paid for my crime, offering apologies, did my time and no longer go to bars. However three years later I cannot get a job and I cant rent an apartment. I have been living in homeless shelters since. I feel horrible for what I did, but short of getting a pardon from the Governor, I will always be a criminal. And this is how the cycle starts.
