LED bulbs are now the only energy-efficient light bulbs available that do not emit high levels of UV radiation; however, they are expensive for many SLE sufferers who are often disabled or unable to work.
To quote the National Institute of Health (NIH) study "The risk of ultraviolet radiation exposure from indoor lamps in lupus erythematosus" at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2829662/ :
"It is well known that ultraviolet radiation can exacerbate skin disease in patients with lupus erythematosus."
Please help those who cannot tolerate UV rays obtain the means to purchase the appropriate bulbs for their homes and/or filters and covers for the more affordable UV-emitting bulbs. We also ask that filters/covers be required for workplaces and businesses.
