On May 14, 1967 at Cau Song Be Special Forces Camp Larry Liss and crew deliberately and repetedly placed themselves in harms way to rescue over 100 South Vietnamese soldiers. They used the rotor blades of a VIP transport to cut through the bamboo canopy to reach the soldiers and evacuate them. They repeated this 4 more times until all were saved disobeying a standing order not to fly the unarmed aircraft into combat.
