There was definitely a need for financial reform, but it has gone too far. Banks have money and are willing to lend it, but the regulations that are now in place make it impossible for them to make a loan unless the borrower has a solid gold credit rating and a serious amount of their own money.
Even banks that were very conservative and weren't hurt by the meltdown aren't allowed to make loans that they would have considered very prudent in the past. It is strangling our economy when only the very few can obtain a loan for a new business or home. Please review the lending criteria community banks must follow before they all shut down for lack of qualified customers according to the new regulations.
