Review the Federal Holidays observed by government employees to help the economy, employee productivity and motivation.

Created by A.O. on October 14, 2011

Federal employees have 10 federal holidays off each year. However, some are not observed by all branches of state and federal agencies. We would like the non-essenial holidays exchanged for needed days off like the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. As Federal employees we have had to work our full TOD's even if that was till 1 am on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. On days like this many employees choose to call in sick, if they did not get them approved as vacation days. When this happens other employees have to pick up the slack, this does not motivate employees it discourages them. Employees live in areas of the country where coming to work on New Year's Eve can be dangerous and management has not offered liberal leave on these occassions.
