Robert H Richards a Dupont heir, raped his 3 year old child, and because Superior Court Judge, Jan Jurden claimed Richards “will not fare well” in prison his sentence which could have been up to 15 years was changed to 8 year probabtion and "treatment." This is a shocking example of how being wealthy gives you a free pass. This man raped a toddler, and whilst on probation it came to light that there was the possibility him having had sexual contact with his 18 month old son. The prison system may not provide the best (or any) rehabilitative services but the system’s inadequacies are not a justification for letting a child molester off the hook. Child protection laws are there to safeguard children, and adults who knowingly harm children should be punished.
