A petition to review the 1918 migratory bird act as it pertains to the family corvidae . American Crows Black billed magpies and common ravens in particular . At the time the act was instated little was known of these birds and the act needs to reflect their true nature . They make excellent companion pets as dogs and cats and in fact enjoy it however the way they are handled now they may be shot in great numbers for sport , poisoned and trapped yet it is illegal to even save and keep an injured one that can not be released back into the wild.
People abuse dogs , people abuse cats but only a small number of people compared to those that give their companion animals a good home and care . So it can be with crows and ravens and magpies with those who enjoy their company.
