While we agree that fighting terrorism is a different kind of war, the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) goes too far and violates both our own 5th amendment for due process as well as international law.
If the AUMF is going to be used to justify:
* using drones against US citizens on US soil;
* using drones against US citizens on foreign soil;
* using drones against non-military foreign nationals accused of terrorism;
* unlimited detention of suspected terrorists;
* other government actions without appropriate checks and balances in the name of fighting terrorism
then it is time to review, revise, or repeal the AUMF. The right to due process under the law is too precious a core value of the United States to violate, even in the name of combating terrorism.
