Review the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. Change marijuana from a Schedule I substance to a schedule II.

Created by M.S. on December 14, 2012

Schedule I drugs are reserved for drugs that have a high potential of abuse and no legitimate medicinal uses. Marijuana needs to be reviewed through current research for the potential for medical benefits. Allowing the re-scheduling of marijuana to schedule II may make further research much easier to be accomplished. I am not asking to legalize it, but just to reschedule it. Xanax is a schedule IV substance and yet it kills people and is very addicting and opiates are schedule II but kill people every day. Marijuana has never killed anyone through overdose or withdrawals. Maybe the use of marijuana would be more beneficial for anxiety than Xanax or maybe useful for some pains than opiates such as Oxycontin or Vicodin.
