Birth tourism is a term to describe the practice of foreigners temporarily travelling to the Unites States just to give birth here, so that the child automatically becomes an American citizen, and then moving back to their own country thereafter. Currently, wealthy Chinese citizens are very big into this practice so that their children will have a better chance at getting into some of our best colleges, and also make it easier for the family to obtain a green card once the child turns twenty one years of age.
The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees U.S. citizenship to those born on its territory, so currently this practice is perfectly legal. Our government NEEDS to revise the 14th Amendment to put an end to foreigners taking advantage of our country!
