Revise the American Youth Congress - allows youth to understand workings of government & issues critical to US future.

Created by C.M. on December 25, 2012

Under the Roosevelt administration in the 1930s, the American Youth Congress was created. The AYC allowed youth across the country to become involved in identifying and finding solutions for key issues facing the USA. Unfortunately, the program did not survive the 1930s. The UK has a similar successful program today. See http://www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk/ and a video on S-Span http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/302738-1

The future of the USA depends on our youth, their innovation and enthusiasm. Further, government can only be improved by those with an understanding of government. An AYC type organization could bring the issues to the people, initiate dialogues within families, and communities.
