The Presidency is the highest office in all of America, and should be treated as such. The highest tier of every career is not an entry level position, except for the Presidency. The Founders likely left out this requirement due to the fear of creating a ruling elite, but as our nation has expanded, there are hundreds of thousands of elected and non-elected government offices for people to serve in. I propose that we amend the Constitution and add this requirement to ensure that future presidents have served the nation before. This can be in any level of the government, including the US military. The position does not have to be senior or elected, but must be within the government. A president who has served the nation will be more likely to put the nation first, as he or she should.
