According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, America was the second most-visited country behind France in 2013. We saw 69.8 million tourists who generated $180.7 billion for our country. But our coins are very confusing to people who didn't grow up with them. Unlike euros, yen, and pounds, they do not feature Arabic numerals denoting their amount. As a cashier at a popular theme park, I've noticed that this leads to confusion among some tourists when making purchases in America. I feel like a simple solution that could help boost our growing tourism and be more welcoming to the rest of the world would be a minor redesigning of our coins that include Arabic numerals somewhere on the coins' sides. This may also make it easier for new citizens to learn our currency.
