Girls (including myself) are fed up with the dress codes in middle school and high school e.g. showing shoulders.
Decisions concerning clothing and hair colour should be left to parents and students, I doubt that such subjects can really be a 'distraction'. We're in the 21st century, get over it.
I'm not even an American citizen yet, as a girl I can understand what American girls are going through.
When school send a girl home because of a violation in dress code rules or her clothing is too immodest, you are essentially telling her that hiding her body is more important than her education.
You are telling her that making sure boys have a distraction-free learning environment is the uppermost priority.
We are girls aged 13-18 and if you are sexualizing us, then you are the problem.
