Drunk driving laws are clearly not alleviating the problem. While the laws continue to become more stringent, the problem continues to grow. People who drink and drive are not being deterred by the fines and laws against it. Once a person has a few drinks(one puts you over the legal limit to drive), they no longer have the ability to make good decisions about driving(according to the law itself). The more fines, classes, community service, probation, loss of license, and even jail time given to the offender does not stop them from getting in a car after drinking. There is a simple solution available; have their cars fitted with a device that prevents them from starting it if they have been drinking. As a matter of fact, why can't all cars be required to have them factory installed;
