Change the current electoral system to base it on percentages of votes per state, per candidate. Take the total number of electoral votes for each state, and give each candidate a percentage of those points based on the percentage of votes for each candidate. Example: CA currently has 55 Electoral Votes, President Obama received 59.1% of the vote so he would receive 32.51 votes, Romney 38.5% for 21.18 votes, and other candidates totaled received 2.4% for 1.32 votes. Each state broken down this way shows a truer representation of the voting and every vote counts. Out of the 538 Electoral Votes total, President Obama would have received 270.88, Romney 258.21, and all others together 8.91. This system would better represent the election results and it would increase voter turnout.
