Social Security laws entitle ex-spouses to draw the benefits of their former spouse as long as they were married for at least 10 years, and no matter how long they've been divorced. If one spouse never re-marries, the ex is entitled to the others benefits after they're deceased. This is a huge loop hole that hemorrhages money from the SSI coffers as it were, and should be revised to eliminate the ex-spouse as a beneficiary all-together.
