Revise Federal policy and the Controlled Substances Act to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana

Created by M.K. on January 18, 2013

Mr. President,
Please form a bipartisan committee to revise the Federal policy on marijuana. The draconian Federal laws surrounding marijuana are fueling criminal organizations who break laws professionally, creating a cash crop for cartels while filling our prisons with nonviolent drug offenders. It drains the state of resources and it destroys families. The prohibition of marijuana not only shatters lives, it strangles the economy by preventing millions of legal jobs from being created, in everything from medical research to hemp farming to legal distribution and sales. The legalization of marijuana could result in an economic boom, possibly bringing in billions in federal tax revenue while spurring American innovation for generations to come.
