revise the FMLA so that all mothers, regardless of company size can receive at least 12 weeks unpaid maternity leave.

Created by J.L. on June 04, 2012

The United States of America is the one and only industrialized nation that does NOT require that a mother and/or father be given any amount of PAID maternity/paternity leave. Under the United States Family and Medical Leave Act, parents of newborns are entitled to 12 weeks UNPAID leave if they have worked for a company of 50 or more employees for at least one full year. By this standard, mothers and fathers working for small business' are not even entitled to one week of leave. No mother (or sole caretaker) should have to fear the loss of her job because she needs time to give birth, heal, and take care of her newborn. Please sign this petition in hopes that a change can be made so that mothers and fathers can spend more time with their children and less time worrying about how to do so.
