Revise the Healthy, Hunger-free Kids Act. For many, this is the only meal they get. It should be palatable.

Created by C.B. on November 15, 2012

The Healthy, Hunger-free Kids Act adds a calorie cap on school lunches: up to 650 for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, 700 for sixth through eighth graders and 850 for high schoolers. This is to fight childhood obesity. However, few children eat everything in a school lunch, and for many, this is the only meal that they get. Many students go hungry at home. The reduction in calories has prompted school lunch providers to make healthier yet unappetizing lunches. Kids who can afford to, bring their lunches, but the ones who are stuck with these healthy lunches get free lunch. Athletes are especially upset.
