Revise the Line of Presidential succession, contained in the 25th Amendment.

Created by B.R. on December 30, 2012

The 25th Amendment of the US Constitution currently provides that in the event that both the President & Vice President are incapacitated, the duties of the President fall upon the Speaker of the House and then to the President of the Senate, pro tem.

This situation would be untenable should there be a difference in party affiliation between the two office holders, and would violate the principles of popular sovereignty, that is the will of the people to have a particular party at the head of the government. Therefore, this petition serves to request that the legislative and executive branches revise the line of succession to be exclusively confined to the Executive Branch, namely Cabinet secretaries.
