Current FDA policy regarding approval of new GMOs is more than 20 years old, and is based on obsolete science, and should therefore be revised. The Mapping of the Genome project proved that a 1:1 ration of gene to protein does not exist as assumed 20 years ago. No INDEPENDENT safety testing is requIred now based on the obsolete assumptions. Genetic Engineering is a complex process involving multiple genes, proteins, switches, and biochemical conditions, It is not a precise process and we are not guinea pigs.
Clearly each citizen's right to a healthy food supply MUST be valued more than the profits of the chemical corporations that now own our seed supply. 90% of all corn, soy, sugar beets, and papaya grown in the US are GMO products and we do not know if they are safe!
