Given the unique leadership status of the U.S. when it comes to international military matters, altering our stance on the role of nuclear weapons may both change the tone of the current global dialog and provide an opportunity to remind the world of our commitment to peace.
Specifically, we ask that the current administration:
1) Unilaterally enter into any such policy changes
2) Abandon the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction
3) Vow to never target a civilian population as the primary target of a nuclear device
4) Remove all pre-programmed targeting information from all active warheads
5) Retire from service all warheads above a yield threshold that would make them more fit for strategic rather than tactical use
