H.R. 4095, the Online Pharmacy Safety Act (OPSA), threatens American access to affordable medicine from legitimate Canadian and other international online pharmacies. On first glance, OPSA appears to be crafted with public health in mind. It's clear that online pharmacies peddling counterfeit drugs must be stopped. But legislators must also recognize that: 1) safe and reputable pharmacies exist outside of the United States, and 2) Americans depend on them.
Millions of Americans over years have relied on licensed international pharmacies for affordable access to their vital medications. OPSA would cut off this lifeline by relying on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy's verification system, which classifies ALL non-US pharmacies as unsafe.
