Patent laws stifle innovation and creativity. In many cases new products and technology cannot reach markets because permission for necessary patents cannot be obtained or contact with the owner cannot even be made! By reforming the patent process so that it operates more like copyrights this reduces those restrictions. A key suggestion here is to force royalty payments to the patent owner so that the owner is still compensated and progress is still made.
