Any and all petitions calling for the secession of a state should only be available for signature to the residents of that state. Currently, these petitions can be signed by anyone and everyone in the world that has internet access.
This creates an unrealistic view of the support of that petition.
Furthermore, these petitions as currently submitted are making a mockery of the citizen's right to petition their government.
