Those serving this country in the military must serve at least 20 years before they can retire and then they only receive approximately 50% of their pay. Meanwhile, Senators and Representatives only need to serve one term and they receive 100% of their pay for the rest of their lives. While military individuals often put their lives on the line, are wounded and maimed, and suffer through mandatory family separations for months at a time, congressmen/women enjoy many fringe benefits, do not put their lives in danger for anyone, and can go home every night.
This is a grave injustice the President of the United States needs to address and force Congress to also address. This has an impact on our national budget as well as being a major government reform in how our military is taken care of.
