Revise the Second Amendment.

Created by J.S. on January 10, 2013

Revise the Second Amendment to make it consistent with the opening paragraph of the US Constitution. An individual's right to bear arms should be consistent with the government's role to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." The revised Amendment would read as follows:

"A well regulated Army, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall be controlled to ensure that the rights of the individual are consistent with the federal government's role, which is to ensure domestic tranquility, the common defense, and the general welfare of the people."
