The speed limit on I-95 in the New York and New England area, is only 55MPH. While this limit might make sense in and around areas such as New York City, as you proceed further north into Westchester and Fairfield Counties, the speed limit remains at just 55MPH. This simply doesn't make sense as the vast majority of drivers cruise between 65-70MPH regardless. Most issues with speeding will be alleviated if the limit is raised to 65-70MPH. Of course, there will always be the argument that drivers will always go 10MPH over the limit, and while that may be true to an extent, nobody wants to get themselves killed in transit. I petition the Obama Administration to consider revising the speed limit to 65-70MPH on I-95 and similar highways north of the 5 Boroughs of New York City.
