The U.S. government, to most effectively serve its constituents, needs to redesign its tax system. There are many policies which serve that purpose, but I feel there are many that don't. I feel that in order to speed this transition along, the government should put many of these changes to a popular vote, and let us decide.
The votes should revolve around tax-exempt status for religious groups, war spending, corporate subsidies, bailouts, private prisons/treatment centers, scientific research, education, infrastructure, wars on drugs, etc..
We pay the taxes, so we should control where our money's going, right?
