The official White House response to a request to change the national motto contains condescending and offensive remarks that undermine the Constitution, the rights of all Americans, and the views of the Founding Fathers.
You refer to the religious by their religions, and your refer to the non-religious as "non-believers." That's like referring to regular citizens as "non-murderers" as opposed to regular citizens. The non-religious are regular rational citizens, and should be referred to as such in contrast to the irrational religious citizens. Religion is, by admission of all who adhere to religion, irrational.
To say there is a place for religion in the public square is to say there is a place for ignorance in the public square. This notion must change once and for all.
