Revisions to ATF Form 4473

Created by G.P. on January 19, 2013

The ATF Form 4473 is a form that is required to be filled out while purchasing a firearm from a Federal Firearm Licensed (FFL) firearm retailer.

In addition to the ATF Form 4473 any person seeking to buy a firearm must pass the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (FBI's NICS). The proposed revisions to the Form 4473 would also revise the FBI NICS process.

Revisions:
1. Remove Ethnic Information (10a.)
2. Remove Racial Information (10b.)
3. Remove Number and Street Address from Current Residence Address in ATF 4473 Question (2.)
4. Have NICS store Number and Street Address accessible by (21b.) on Form 4473.
5. Insure NICS stores address securely

Reasons:
1. Insure safety of ethnic groups
2. Insure safety for racial groups
3-5. Prevent consumer information abuse/misuse
