In 2010 the FCC turned down proposal by M2Z to use an open band of the radio spectrum to provide free internet to Americans and generate revenue from ads.
Such a system could be implemented in 10 years by some estimates, and would provide numerous benefits to citizens and small businesses across the country. Internet access to all would enable people of all financial backgrounds to become part of our global society and to educate themselves and improve they lives.
With increasing internet costs a free alternative could spark economic growth and help people better their lives.
